Insurance timing. If you have an approved claim, the policy typically requires completion within a set period, often a year, to collect depreciation. That gives you room to schedule for fall even after a spring storm, as long as the roof is tarped and watertight.

Get an inspection in late summer to know whether the roof will make it through another hail season. If it's marginal, schedule fall replacement and choose Class 4 shingles so the next spring is less of a gamble.
