What affects furnace repair cost in DFW
Fuel type and configuration. Most DFW homes heat with a gas furnace on Atmos service, usually in the attic or a closet; others use electric heat strips in an air handler or a heat pump. Diagnosis and parts differ, so tell your tech which you have if you know.
Which component failed. Ignition parts, flame sensors, and switches are inexpensive. Inducer motors, blower motors, and gas valves are mid-range. A cracked heat exchanger is a safety issue and usually means replacement.
Access and timing. Attic furnaces take longer to service, and during a freeze event every contractor in the metroplex is slammed. Non-emergency repairs in January may wait a day or two.
